What's the difference between standard and minimal installation?

I haven’t found a list or anything like that for comparison. What apps or programs are missing when I chose to install the “minimal” installation?

Do I need any of the full installation packages when I use my workstation for browsing the internet and watching videos / viewing pictures?

nope. minimal will suffice if you just want to surf internet and play media. check the differences in packages included here
