What version of Microsoft Teams should i install from the AUR?

i see three possibilities:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/teams

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/teams-for-linux

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/teams-for-linux-bin

First package has not been updated for > 2 years

AUR (en) - teams
Description: Microsoft Teams for Linux is your chat-centered workspace in Office 365
Last Updated: 2023-03-04 10:15 (UTC)

Other packages have been updated recently and either should work

AUR (en) - teams-for-linux
Description: Unofficial Microsoft Teams client for Linux using Electron.

AUR (en) - teams-for-linux-bin
Description: Unofficial Microsoft Teams for Linux client (binary version)

This one might be a Bad IdeaTM since it’ll have to compile. Rather use the *-bin version of it:

I think the best option is to install the PWA (Progressive Web App) of Teams. There is no native client of Teams on Linux and the ones available in AUR are just Electron wrappers for the web app. The PWA is the official solution. It requires Chrome or Edge, that’s true.

Teams is part of the Microsoft ecosystem and can be used via Browser without installing anything.

I am using it for my company on my personal device when i am too lazy to fire up my work notebook where the apps are installed.
If you are brave, you can also install Microsoft Edge Browser for Linux where Teams and other office apps works best.
But i am using it on Google Chrome without issues.

Thanks
i don’t want Edge or Chrome on my PC.
i had to get this app as a replacement for Skype for older family members.
i tried it yesterday and it suits me fine.

also from past experience,Zoom on a Browser wouldn’t work well at all as the standalone one.

The new teams app is nothing else than an interface to the web based Teams.
Not directly comparable to Zoom

But i can understand not installing Edge on Linux just for that.
