What 'signal' is the sleep key on my keyboard sending?

I have a key on my old keyboard that when pressed, puts my system to sleep, no prompts or anything. Is it possible to find out what ‘signal’ is being sent to the OS? My new keyboard is programmable but doesn’t have a sleep key. I’d like to program a macro/keybinding either in Manjaro or using the keyboard’s software to simulate the sleep key.

Thanks!

If you have a programmable keyboard, why don’t you program a sleep command on a key then?
