What is manjarolinux.com (e.g. as opposed to manjaro.org)?
Not sure that there is much difference apart from the domain and site layout. Best to explore both.
From exploring, I gather that it is an unofficial “clone”. E.g., The download links don’t work, the contact email is a gmail, and the copyright is not Manjaro GmbH.
you should inform @philm direct. seems to be a violation of the brand and who knows what the intention of this site might be. i wouldn’t be surprised if this site wants to spread a malware-clone.
That’s interesting! I didn’t check any of the links. I guess this is worth mentioning to the @Manjaro-Team …? (@Olli beat me to it).
I have since checked and this seems to be the case? i.e. a “clone” of sorts.
These links might be useful as a comparison?
Its almost certainly not from the team.
I had run some whois checks earlier … noting the domain is only a few months old.
That website is not from us. Their download page has no downloads, but it seems they used our pictures on their team page plus our names. For sure it is violating many things. Have to check who is the domain registrar and file a takedown and trademark complaint on the domain.
Users should avoid that page for now, as it is not us running it. When you search for the gmail email you will find a lot similar looking websites.
Domains are first come first serve sells. We can’t buy just a lot of domains just to protect the brand or project. Seems to be a scam scheme to get money by selling of domains to popular projects for high prizes.
For example http://manjaro.com/ is just a placeholder and no page yet. http://manjarolinux.com/ has a page and therefore violates the trademark and personal rights of me and my team.
I’m quite surprised that there isn’t yet a .linux
top-level domain, which could only be used by Linux distros with verification required before registration is accepted. The URL https://manjaro.linux/ has a nice look to it…
Or… a scam intended to offer compromised downloads and/or packages, with the resulting damage to Manjaro’s reputation only as collateral damage in the ever-escalating cyber-war between certain nation states. The fact that the contact phone number leads to Pakistan would be only one of the many ways of covering up who’s really behind it and what their true intentions are.
Either way, I personally regard this as most likely malevolent, and definitely as a liability for the good name of the Manjaro distribution, and of the Manjaro GmbH.

WTF
There are other forums with the same name, Manjaro.
FORUMS ! That’s a difference and they are total legal and there is no reason to be obscured.
As @Olli says, those are forums, specifically aimed at offering support in the native tongues of those people — French and German, respectively — and neither of them assumes the pretense of being the official website for the Manjaro distribution.
manjarolinux.com on the other hand does assume that pretense.
It is fine to have community driven forums around Manjaro. It is also fine to use the name for it, as it has a purpose. However, people can’t expect that the Manjaro team might be present in those forums. So it is a dedicated community in a dedicated language which offers support for Manjaro and other topics around it.
