What about returning default shortcuts to the desktops environments?

Hello, I’m enjoying Manjaro. I would like to request a possibility for Manjaro to return to default shorcuts for the DEs, mostly KDE & Gnome. I think it could be better for normal use of the average user, likewise, less work for devs.

I’d love even more to use Manjaro like that, and I think for some people too that uses Manjaro… and it could be a little change, nothing out of the ordinary.

Also!
Is there a possibility to include the Manjaro icon by default in the KDE menu in the next releases? I think it could be a great idea. (yes, I can include myself by just doing some jobs, but hey! it could be great for new users!)

It’s a good distro, thank you.

Please define “default shortcuts”. I don’t know what you’re asking.

Please see: How to Post and edit both your topic title and first post accordingly.

There was a reason that it was no longer able to be used due to upstream changes. I don’t recall why at the moment.

Care to share with the rest of the class?

well, the default one for gnome, when you use Meta + numbers to open certain desktop apps in the dock. Like firefox, file explorer or the terminal. Because you’ll need to use CTRL + Meta + numbers.

I see that KDE has everything as default, I commit a mistake by adding it.

And for the icon is pretty simple. I don’t think it needs a long tutorial for that haha

Blessings! It’s a great distro and I’m enjoying it overall. Hope people will start to recognize Manjaro as a good distro again. I see not flaws after the shortcuts in Gnome  , pretty decent as heck.

Both Plasma and GNOME are taken over verbatim from Arch, and Arch keeps them as vanilla as possible. The only thing Manjaro adds are the themes.

In other words, the shortcuts in both Plasma and GNOME are the default ones as defined by their respective developers upstream — Manjaro does not change anything to that.

Those shortcuts are not a default from GNOME–they’re from the Dash To Dock extension. However, Manjaro overrides them to switch-to-workspace with manjaro-gnome-settings.

Again, please do what I asked above.

Never knew those were from Dash to Dock. I’m still new to the world of Linux. Well, it’s good to know.

Btw, you’ve told me to do what you’ve asked me:
Right click in the menu → Select “Configure Application Launcher” → Select the icon, then click “choose” → Just type “Manjaro”, and click to it.

Then everything will end fine after applying and accepting the changes.

Hey Yochanan, thank you for being patient with me. It’s good to see a Manjaro dev here.

I was actually referring to what I said about the topic title and post…

Yes, that’s easy to do for the user–however, I was told it’s not as easy including it by default and that’s why it’s not. Isn’t that what you were asking for?

If I knew how to make it so, I would do it right now.
