What about appimagelauncher ?!?

Hello,

i see, that the software “appimagelauncher” is not in the repos.
How can I run an appimage like “musescore studio”? Is therefore an another application instead?

regards
caho

appimagelauncher was dropped from the repos earlier this year:

Although it does look like there has been some recent work done on it, according to its GitHub page. It is still available in the AUR: AUR (en) - appimagelauncher

Here are the details for Gear Lever:

It can be installed from Manjaro’s extra repo:

Note: There is also a gearlever package in the AUR. If installing gearlever using Pamac’s GUI or any other software installation app which includes an AUR helper, users should double-check which one they have selected for installation before proceeding:

~/.local/bin is in your $PATH by default, if I’m not mistaken.

echo $PATH

will tell you

You can put the Appimage there, make it executable and can then start it from terminal by typing it’s name.
This is the way I use Clipgrab.

Or you call it with the full PATH to wherever you decide to put it.

You can create a desktop launcher that uses this information - can’t tell you how exactly that works in KDE.
You’ll figure it out.

OK, thank you for your fast answer. I will install Gear Lever now.

until now, I started the appimage by click to my musescore-files. In the kde system-settings I included it so:

It works fine for me.
So do I need gearlever or appimagelauncher really?
how can I simple test it without them with a backup option?

the flatpak package is unfortunately not up to date…

It does for me, too.

Not really, no.

I told you how I do this - I put the Appimage somewhere in my $PATH (~/.local/bin), make it executable and call it via Terminal by it’s name.

I haven’t bothered to create a Launcher.
I use Xfce4.

What you describe here is associating musescore files with this application.
That should be fine - it can be changed or removed at any time.

I’m however not used to with KDE/Plasma.
I do not know how to answer your question:

OK, thank you very much for your hints, @Nachlese

Just in case it wasn’t clear in the linked thread above, I dropped appimagelauncher and added gearlever at the same time.
