Since February 2026, I have completely switched from Ubuntu to Manjaro Gnome (3 desktops; 2 laptops).
The switch went quite well and I am completely satisfied.
Pamac (GUI) has always worked well for me and I like that both flatpak and AUR packages are well integrated. Building AUR packages with Pamac (GUI) also went smoothly.
Manjaro Gnome is sufficiently fully configured for me.
System looks nice (subjective) and works quickly.
I also took a look at EndeavourOS, which was very sparse, which meant that a lot still had to be configured for me.
My compliments to the maintainers of this fine system!
Furthermore, I have been helped quickly and well by this forum a number of times. Keep it up!
Welcome.
At least we have a local repo in SA. Although for some reason (admittedly, I have done any investigation), pamac fails to update VS Code from AUR and I had to use yay. I prefer pamac for all package management, so Iām just using the UK mirrors.
Hi been using manjaro for about a year. Started with linux mint, so still learning
Hi, been using Manjaro for about 8 years. Started with Ubuntu gnome2, then Linux Mint Cinnamon, so still learning
'cos that part never ends
Indeed.
@Wacko920 welcome to the forum.
So, Pamac does actually work for some people? ![]()
Linux Mint, for me, was a great stepping-stone into the world of Linux. I still use it sometimes. However, I much prefer the rolling-release model overall. Plus, I like to be more āhands-onā and an Arch-based distro suits this.
honestly sometimes i am lazy and use it as well on CLI
I gotta be honest, I use CLI to update my system solely so I can feel like Iām a hacker doing hacker things. Iāve never tried Pamac simply for that reason alone.
Well there are 2 flavours of pamac.
pamac-manager, which is the GUI, and pamac-cli (pamac [install|update|etc and etc]), which for use in the CLI.
So I assume you are using pacman.
I am indeed. And I added the little line in the config file that turns the āupdate statusā into a little ASCII pacman eating the dots.

The single most important hack.
Hi, Carlos here, 20 years experienced sysadmin from Spain, 5 years with Manjaro and very happy with it (with a couple of jumpscares with happy endings
), thanks for your work guys. I love the concept of the distro and I REALLY wish the recent ātektonicā movement ends with a better project.
Hi all ā Hafiz here from Malaysia. I started my Linux journey a few years ago using virtual machines. In 2025 I began switching from Windows to Manjaro on my current laptop. So far the experience has been great ā like a teen discovering new things. Nice to meet the community.
