I assume you are talking about browser page forward/backward actions. In this case, actually, Wayland has you covered! Wayland is able to properly pass along swipe actions to applications (e.g. Firefox), that way two-finger forward/backward gestures actually work natively like they do on Windows/Mac. You may need to set Firefox to Wayland mode for this to work, though.
