VMPK (Virtual MIDI Piano Keyboard) won't launch after 2025-06-23 Stable Update

Hi there.

After the 2025-06-23 Stable Update, VMPK (0.9.1-1) won’t launch on my system.
Before this update I’ve been using VMPK daily without a problem.
I haven’t found any other problems after the update, so far.

journalctl output when trying to launch:

Welcome to the Manjaro community @0p3r4t4

I just installed vmpk v0.9.1-1 on my Plasma Wayland testing branch system. It successfully opened, and I was able to play a tune, so it is obviously not a problem with the vmpk package (which is the same version across all repos & on Arch):

mbn can be found in the manjaro-check-repos package

The inxi output you provided doesn’t provide uptime information (which is why inxi -zv8 is usually preferred), so I do have to ask the question:

Did you reboot after updating?

Hi, @scotty65. It’s nice to be in the Manjaro Community.

I rebooted several times since the update. Still not working.

I don’t think the problem originates from vmpk package (that remains the same since January) but, perhaps (and based on the errors produced on launch), from its dependency on qt6-base (6.9.1-1), that, as far as I understand, is updated on the last stable update. Just guessing.

Here goes the inxi -zv8 output:

Hi there.
An update on the subject.

Deleting its configuration makes VMPK to work.
So I started configuring it to my needs until it stopped working again.

Repeating the process step by step, I’ve found that it you close the program with volume control selected (as shown in the image), it stops working.

Closing VMPK with this control selected leads, in my case, to a saved configuration file containing these lines:

[Instrument13]
Bank=-1
Controller=7
Program=0

Just replacing 7 with 1 (or other valid value) brings VMPK back to normal.

So I’m not sure if the update causes the problem or if it exists before and I just closed VMPK with this control selected the day before.
But, at least, if someone has the same problem, there’s a way to solve the situation.

Best regards.
