VirtualBox Is Aborting

I’ve been using VirtualBox on my machine for quite some time with no issues, but just this morning when opening the application and attempting to launch my old saved VMs VirtualBox is aborting. I’m not really sure how to correct this issue and was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same? Here’s the error code I’m receiving:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Lite.

The VM session was aborted.

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: SessionMachine
Interface: ISession {c0447716-ff5a-4795-b57a-ecd5fffa18a4}

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

This can be any number of reason - one probable cause is because you have the extension pack enabled because you use usb3 controller.

Disable usb2 and usb3 in the vm properties and try again.

the keyword is old saved - which means the virtualbox extension does not match the vm.

I know the error message is fluffy at best - but I have run into this on many occasions
