Hi, not sure if this is the right place for this. I installed the update no problem. Then I installed kernel 7.1 and had a problem there. The DKMS compile of the virtualbox driver(s) failed. I fell back to 6.18. Here is the log: Tue Jun 23 08:38:40 AM EDT 2026 Building module(s) # command: mak…

dkms package won’t compile on 7.1 series unless you patch it: patched PKGBUILD

[image] dad23innj: Then I installed kernel 7.1 and had a problem there. The DKMS compile of the virtualbox driver(s) failed. You forgot the linux71-headers package - dkms depends on it.

[image] dad23innj: make[1]: Entering directory '/var/lib/dkms/vboxhost/7.2.8_OSE/build' It appears you may be in an unsupported, partial upgrade state. The current version of virtualbox is 7.2.10. EDIT: Hang on, I think there may be mismatched package versions in the latest testing update. I…

@Yochanan , @ManjaroDevOps I will make sure to install the headers. I do that as a matter of course, but I’m not above screwing it up. I’ll also reinstall virtualbox and the virtualbox DKMS package and see if that helps.

[image] [Testing Update] 2026-06-23 - Kernels, KDE Frameworks, KDE Gear, Xorg-Server We have mismatched virtualbox packages in this update. Somehow we ended up with virtualbox 7.2.8 packages with 7.2.10 kernel modules.

I was just about to say that pacman is determined to install 7.2.8. Ok, I’ll wait for an update. The plot thickens (maybe). When I try to install virtualbox-host-dkms, 7.2.8 is what comes up there too.

Might need to update with sudo pacman -Syuu to allow downgrades: [image] [Testing Update] 2026-06-23 - Kernels, KDE Frameworks, KDE Gear, Xorg-Server I pushed the correct 7.2.8 virtualbox host kernel modules incl. a patched version for 7.1 kernel series.

Thanks, @philm , the patch works.
