Using DMG-18 in Manjaro

I recently bought I new PC. The PC stands in a part of my house, where I can’t connect it with LAN, so I bought a Wifi-Stick with the PC. The Wifi Stick is DMG-18. It uses a Realtek RTL-8811AU Single Chipset. I was able to find a Driver for it on GitHub from aircrack-ng (I’m not allowed to post links) and I was able to install it without internet connection. But the driver does not work correct: Most of the time I can’t connect to any Wifi network. It shows just a error. Sometimes I can randomly connect to a network, but then it’s really slow, so even if I’m able to connect to a network, it’s not really usable.

I would suggest using one of these packages from the AUR instead:

(I suppose the aircrack one probably correlates to the one you found manually)

As they are all DKMS … just make sure you have the headers for your kernel.

rtl8812au422-dkms-git gets is last update on GitHub 2019, so it’s seems it’s no longer maintained.

rtl88xxau-aircrack-dkms-git is the one I#m currently using. I had it installed by downloading the code and using sudo ./ instead of aur.

I had now tried rtl8821au-dkms-git. I had currently no internet connection on my PC so I downloaded the source, build it and load the module with insmod as descipt in Readme. The result is, that KDE asks me in a infinity loop for my network password when I tried to connect to a network.

The headers and dkms are installed. Otherwise I were not be able to install the aircrack one.

Are there any options you could set for this module?

I don’t know waht all these settings are doing.

If I try to connect to a Network and it doesen’t work, KDE shows me this notification:

Das Gerät kann nicht eingerichtet werden

It’s in German. KDE does not respect the language settings, if I set them to englisch. It means translated that the device cannot be set up.
