There are indeed ideas for some minimal statistics collection (mainly info for the used hardware). However, in the W11 era, users are sensitive to data sharing. And open source users are especially oversensitive. For me it is a bit paranoic reaction (because unlike in Winboze, the data that will be shared can be seen from the user before sending and is very minimal).
Still, based on the mixed reactions in the internal tests and polls, the project is on pause for now.
It’s perhaps something which could be made more prominent, or even be given a periodic reminder… however, it’s the KDE philosophy that it must remain a stricly opt-in policy.
@fckwan This is one of those things, that regardless of how useful it s to the developers, is users’ choice. Unlike Windows, users are not forced to provide information.
In addition to that, it makes no sense to enable it on the Stable branch, given that Manjaro Stable heavily lags behind on KDE upstream.
Right now, the Plasma edition of Manjaro Stable is still at Plasma 6.3.6, while KDE only offers updates to 6.4 and the newly released 6.5, and is not interested in hearing about issues with 6.3.x anymore.
