USB Webcam microphone detected, but there is no sound

I’m not sure what’s going on. The microphone worked fine a while ago, and then it just stopped working. I don’t remember if I did anything or if it was due to upgrade of a system component.
I have Manjaro running on my laptop and there the webcam microphone works fine.

IMO everything looks fine, there’s no reason for it to show up, but not produce any sound. I’m not sure how to continue debugging this, any help would be appreciated. Here are some potentially useful command outputs:

If you use pipewire, maybe you have to route mic input to your speaker with qjackctl or something.
In my case capture_FL of M4 Analog Surround… is the mic input.
Screenshot_2022-02-08_17-48-23qjackctl

I’m not sure I know what I’m doing, but I’ve tried connecting MIC to the speakers and it didn’t help.

With pavucontrol, can you see your mic on Configuration tab?

Yeah, I see it fine everywhere, it’s just that it’s not “showing” any volume/noise when I make the noise. The same USB webcam/mic works fine on Manjaro laptop that I have, running same kernel version. I’m really confused

Have you tried alsamixer command on a terminal?
Probably you can select your webcam with F6 key and check if Mic is muted or not.

I’m not familiar with guvcview and I don’t know if you use guvcview or not, though. Maybe this link PulseAudio - ArchWiki can help the situation.

Also with guvcview, you can see Audio Control tab and select Audio API or something and check if you can get sound work.

@aki42 thanks, but unfortunately nothing helps. I’ve checked alsamixer and it’s not muted, and nothing in guvcview helps. Also, it is not getting suspended, it doesn’t work from the moment I plug it into the USB.
