Thank you for the suggestions, it is true I am on the unstable branch but I was also encountering this issue on the stable branch as well. And when I mention software, I believe there is a bug in the kernel or grub or boot sequence somewhere, not so much KDE, as when I monitor this issue the usb power loss happens well before the kde log in screen shows up.
My theory is I need a variable for the GRUB command line to make it ensure the devices stay on/activate during boot.
