Upgrade to 21.1.14 broke XFCE desktop, installing new Mate dt works fine

A long running system, I upgraded to XFCE manjaro-release (21.1.3-1 → 21.1.4-1.0) and after rebooting none of the windows main navigation would operate properly - can’t drag the windows, minimize, maximize, Alt-tab doesn’t work, an open terminal window doesn’t accept typing, etc.
I then installed the Mate desktop and everything works properly.
Is there a way to do a complete re-install of the XFCE desktop?

The output to inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width is:

:+1: Welcome to Manjaro! :+1:

  1. Please read this:
    How to provide good information
and press the three dots below your post and press the :pencil2: to give us more information so we can see what’s really going on.
Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…
  2. An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width would be the minimum required information for us to be able to help you. (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)
Also, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text.
  3. Does this issue also happen when you create a new user and log in there under the XFCE desktop? (E.G. bbaker2)

:+1:

P.S. If you want to notify me that you did provide this information, please  this message and I’ll come back and have another look.
P.P.S. If you enter a bit more details in your profile, we can also see which Desktop Environment you’re using, which exact CPU/GPU or Kernel, … you have without typing it every time

Your inxi output looks good, except you seem to have the following issues: (which are just choices, and should not influence the issue you’re experiencing)

  • installed Manjaro in BIOS compatibility mode
  • you have hibernation enabled but only SQRT(RAM) of swap instead of RAM+SQRT(RAM)

Therefore, does the problem also arise if you create a new user and log in into the XFCE desktop there? (E.G. bbaker2)
