Updating the BIOS

See page 26 of motherboard manual for using MSI Center utility in a Windows environment instead of using M-Flash utility in BIOS

At no point.
It seems to be built into the BIOS.
Hirens or FreeDOS might not be needed.

Either use the in built BIOS method -
or
use a Windows or DOS environment - boot into that

Did you try to see what happens when you follow these instructions?
(short of actually initiating the update …)

Thanks for all the responses.

I did try before but got stuck. I now feel i have a clearer idea. Thank you to all.

The question is updating the BIOS necessary? I had problems recently and thought it was, but now I’m no longer sure. I’m tempted to leave it for a few months and see.

Thank you again for all the responses.

Likely not.

While the update should not be so difficult
that would be a good choice.

Try to describe and address your current issues in a new, dedicated post.

A BIOS update is unlikely to be the cure - IMO. :man_shrugging:

Nvidia graphics is notorious for giving Problems - especially in a rolling distro like Manjaro.

… if Ubuntu or Mint work - they keep working …
all throughout the lifetime of the installed version at least.

Not necessarily the case for Arch/Manjaro

Thank you so much for this advice.

Thank you also to all who offered their time and expertise.

@newbietolinux

Have you updated your BIOS?
Or, do you still intend to update your BIOS?

Hi soundofthunder

I have not yet updated the BIOS. I would first like to try nikgnomic’s approach as he has the same GPU and his has always worked.
