Switched branch to unstable
Updated from stable to unstable and now shutdown doesn’t work.
Select Shutdown from the menu, the selection shut down / cancel comes (with the timer) i select shutdown → Monitor went black, Steam closed but “Manjaro hello” and mouse pointer stay active. Pushing the power button from the computer → shutdown, but computer rebooted directly. Now in Login screen click on “Shutdown”: computer shuts down immediately.
sudo pacman -Syyu - no result
swichted kernel from 9.10 to 9.91. - no result
added in SDDM --force to the power off: have to shutdown with power button - but computer did not reboot.

I have this problem since june:

Seems to only affect x11, still no idea why it doesn’t work or how to fix it.

What happens if you try shutting down from a Terminal? poweroff should suffice.

It will likely help if you post the results of inxi -zv8.

Also note that pacman -Syu is normally recommended, rather than -Syyu. Less taxing on the servers.

shutdown -P from terminal is working.

I have a similar issue. Updating on the most recent unstable broke sddm and after fixing that with systemctl enable --force sddm.service shutting down and logging out is completely broken on Xorg. With Wayland this isn’t happening.

My experience is that SDDM did not break on update, and I can reliably shutdown from the application menu button.

A difference I can see, is that I’m using AMD video card currently, no NVIDIA. Another difference, is that I do not have the secondary confirmation prompt when I click the button in application menu (it directly does the action under the button I click in the menu), I changed that setting.

Same on my systems, that countdown timer is superfluous to my needs … I have all the options I need directly via the Application Launcher. Just needed to widen it to accommodate all 8 option buttons along the bottom.

Maybe that will help with the above issues.

inxi output:
