Updated and now can't log in

Hello everyone,

I updated manjaro today (using sudo pacman -Syyu) as I do pretty much every day. There were several updates, which also created some new pacnew files. After updating I managed the pacnew files using etc-update and then restarted. Now when I boot manjaro, it brings me to the log in screen with my user account name, but my password is unrecognized. My password has always been the same and I have not changed it recently, so I am lost as to why an update would have removed or changed it. Is there any way to fix this or am I out of luck and need to reinstall?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I don’t think it’s wise to use a tool to manage those files. Manual changes might be needed.
