also by the way:
there are several other editions with different desktop environments available as well

I used to use Mint Xfce but have now switched to the currently more recent Debian trixie.

LMDE, which currently still in beta stage, is based on that as well - but it comes as a Cinnamon edition and you’d have to change it over to a different DE yourself (which is actually quite easy to do.)

Indeed rebooting the system after update is the only right thing to do.

For the big updates sure. For web browser updates etc. not so much

Right of course. Alternatively, maybe one can just kill the thing (pamac-tray) and restart it. Still a bug though. But not a showstopper.
