I am on unstable and that could be my issue.

Moderator edit: Separated command output

What are the permissions of /var/tmp/pamac/dbs/sync/refresh_timestamp? I had a similar issue for a while, because the owner had switched to root at some point. It should be the user instead.

One way to fix this is to remove the file and recreate it by checking for updates under pamac.

In the process of checking on this my mouse froze .
I had to do a hard reset.
When I came back the dir tree only goes as far as tmp
Nothing after that.

If there is no pamac folder, there are no databases pamac is currently using, so you might need to sync them.

Meaning which step?

Process was checking for the permissions on that folder

If I manually sync the database I’m sure the icon will show that there are updates.
But shouldn’t it tell me without me manually syncing?

The path points to a file, actually.
You can set the interval at which pamac checks for updates. I do not know why the indicator doesn’t pick these up right away.

Ive noticed the same on Stable. Icon doesn’t show updates unless you reboot or launch Pamac GUI & go to update tab, then they appear & topbar icon updates.
I use sleep a lot so I don’t see updates for many days after they are released unless I make an effort to check.

Are you lost? This is the Manjaro support forum.

No I am not lost.
I don’t know why that says that.

Distro: Manjaro Linux

What program produced that information? I recommend neofetch in the community repo or fastfetch in the AUR.

Maybe because you’re using Manjaro repos on an Arch installation?

Where did that output come from?

I’m using Manjaro. Neofetch agrees.

OK I think I know the answer.
My fault.
I have added the arcolinux repos as shown when I did my updates.
I didn’t mean to cause any issues but maybe I have mixing repos.

:warning: Third party repos are not supported–especially repos designed for another distribution. On top of that, you’ve added even more chaos by using the Chaotic-AUR repo as well.

Neither Manjaro nor ArcoLinux can provide you support for your Frankenstein system, unfortunately.

Ok thanks
I guess I’m on my own.

Either install Manjaro or ArcoLinux. You can’t use both repos at the same time.
