[Unstable Update] May 2025

Because [Unstable Update] May 2025 - #47 by omano

It’s a simple question, just give simple answer instead of trying to be mysterious in a non answer.
I just want to know, is it now fixed so I can go back to kernel 6.12 or 6.14 without having to hard reset the computer every ten minutes and risking trashing my file system?

Fair enough. Phil said it was indeed reverted.

Hmm. Seems you missed lib32-nvidia-utils, which removing (as an optional dependancy) broke steam for me.

I don’t believe so

Maybe your mirror(s) are not up to date?

Welcome to the forum, by the way!

Thanks, I searched on Gitlab eventually because it wasn’t really answering the question about both kernels positively (6.12 and 6.14), and the patch was not applied to 6.12 kernel nor 6.15 apparently. The issue is on 6.12, 6.14, and 6.15 according to all the reports in the link I provided earlier.

Has the faulty AMD kernel patch made it into testing or stable?

Yes for the three unpatched kernels, you even have on Stable for 6.15.

To be exact it is not bad patches that made it to Unstable/Testing, but the current official kernel code has issues, fixed by a patch which is reverting some lines of code to previous state before official code introduced the issue.
