In case anyone experiences issues with snaps recently, installing AppArmor 3.1.6 from Arch’s Testing might resolve them. I’ve been testing it the for a day already and it seems it is quite safe at least for Manjaro Unstable branch. I know many people dislike snaps but sometimes there’s no other way except rebuilding the entire Qt which is not a fun game.
With kernel 6.4 being released, can someone confirm or check that the issues with BTRFS from before are resolved?
Calamares is broken it complains about user@user module can’t be loaded.
I believe this is due to icu package being at 73 and calamares wants 72.
Fixed with the update of calamares to 3.2.62-3 yesterday
I’m seeing bluetoothd
core dumps with bluez 5.67-1
.
After downgrading to 5.66-1
bluetooth works as before.
I can reproduce it and an Arch bug report has been filed: FS#78937 - [bluez] coredump when playing audio since 5.67-1
Ah, that bluez
report wasn’t filed yet when I looked.
On another note:
Sometimes my amd machine gets hit by a kernel bug on boot. Seems to be included in multiple kernels, I’ve seen this on linux63
and linux61
so far.
A recent mention in a testing announcement thread sees this in linux515
:
There is a thread on arch forums about it.
Possible fix mentioned in post #17:
After the most recent update from unstable and reboot, the pipewire-pulse service starts and then subsequently crashes (SIGSEGV).

Edit: I’ve figured out the trigger. When “PulseAudio Volume Control” aka pavucontrol
from the extra
repository is running, pipewire-pulse
crashes. I have pavucontrol
set to run at launch to be able to monitor audio output on a side display. If pavucontrol
is not running, pipewire-pulse
can run without crashing. I have reported the bug to the PipeWire developers, here.
there was a minor update today that erased my kmail-account settings. weird because there was nothing in this update that was related to kmail.
Seems there is lot going on with AMDGPU driver and other things right now. Some of you guys reported issues with Mesa and Kernels according to AMD hardware. Some have some issues with Intel too. This update might fix most of those when you use linux64. Other kernel series might get the fixes later. I also pulled in some staging patches for Mesa 23.1 branch. Most likely those will land in the next point release anyway. Just let me know if I broke more with those already included …

The workaround is quite easy, simply launch element-desktop
disabling the shader cache.
MESA_SHADER_CACHE_DISABLE=true element-desktop
Happy to hear anyone’s thoughts or if I am missing something else quite obvious. Otherwise hope this helps anyone else experiencing the same issue.
I haven’t had any issues launching and playing games via Steam, etc to my surprise.

Update: Once element-desktop
is launched with the shader cache disabled, I was able to logout and relaunch as normal. Signed back in and all is well!
Update 2: This has been reported and considered an upstream issue with Chromium.
I do not normally use it … and I happen to have electron24 installed for jitsi-meet-desktop (which works) … but here element+electron25 seems to work.
jitsi-meet-desktop
runs fine for me as well. Curious as to why my install of element-desktop
is all of a sudden experiencing this problem. Will further investigate. Thank you for giving it a go.
Still the same mesa issue with 23.1.3-2
I have updated and tested 6.4.1-3
and same AMD GPU problem reported at [Testing Update] 2023-07-01 - Kernels, Pipewire, Bluez, Evolution, KDE-Git - #4 by jetm
