Uninstall Program not in AUR: Target not Found

… what is a file manager?
nahh - I think that is easy enough for you to figure out yourself
sorry

you don’t want to do that indiscriminately - as this will erase all your configurations - not just the one of that particular program

Nah, that is not difficult on a file manager… I don’t expect that you are complete noob at computers. Or do you?

File managers are called Dolphin, Thunar, Nautilus, etc… So I said file manager because there are many. Just like on Windows there is a “Windows Explorer” what is a File Manager.

This is like a 6-year old would ask to show him how to drive a truck. Dude, learn how to walk first.

Sorry, it’s been a long week with a lot on my plate. My file manager is Dolphin in this case. We were discussing terminal actions, and that’s here my mind was stuck. So, when you say delete the directory, I just delete the file in file manager (Dolphin)? How do I delete the cache?

Correct. In Dolphin you can delete any file/folder in your home directory.

On the terminal it would be like this:

rm -Rv ~/my-folder-in-my-home-directory

But be careful here, if you are novice.

The cache is normally located here ~/.cache so at /home/username/.cache

~ equal $HOME equal /home/$USER equal /home/<your_username>

… the same way you delete
and look at before you do
that other directory …

It’s not a file - it’s a directory, with some files in it.

… just look at it
and it should be obvious
regardless of how tired you are after a long week

if too tired to properly evaluate things - postpone to tomorrow …

Well, I am essentially a novice when it comes to these things. Been a Linux user for years (Mint, Fedora, and now Manjaro KDE). Love it, but I essentially load programs, use them, and update, without getting into any of the funky stuff. 99% of the programs I load are through Add/Remove. This is obviously not my wheelhouse. We all have strengths and weaknesses.

Thanks for you patience and efforts. I think things would have been easier if this forum allowed screenshots, but alas, such is not the case. Have a great weekend folks

it does - but a way around it,
if you are too new on the forum,
is to post them to an external service (imgur? … don’t know any, really)
and provide the link to it here

but I do not think that those would really have been of any help.

It’s a file freakin manager.
They are essentially all the same - Linux, MacOs, Windows …

You use it to browse through and look at your files.

I really do not know how screenshots would have improved your representation to us …

I have asked that before …

is this the app you are referring to here in this thread?

https://www.calengoo.com

… just so I can try and see what it does, what files it creates …

Yes, that is the site

This may be a very informative site and all
but I cannot currently locate among all the helpful informations
where the f I can actually download the program.
to try it out …

Help me with it!

https://www.calengoo.com/desktop/linux.html

ok - the relevant part on that page is in the sixth paragraph:

Then download and unzip CalenGoo-Java.zip and start it using the file “calengoo.sh”. Ensure that Java 8 is used when starting calengoo.sh . E.g. by setting JAVA_HOME to the Java 8 installation directory and starting “java” from its “bin” directory.

they have hidden their actual product well enough for me

I have it now - and I will try using it.
Not today though.
I will be back - if noone else could help/solve your issue in the meantime.

For me, it was easy enough. I simply unzipped the files, clicked on calengoo.sh (after making it an executable), and it came right up (after installing Java of course)

Incidentally, I discovered a cool way to clean up the cache: How To Clean The Package Cache In Arch Linux - OSTechNix

yeah, I understand that
the problem I was having was
locating that file in the first place (where to get it from, on their website)
to download it
to even start …

I’ll just have to set the java version it requires
to something I actually have.

thus the announced delay …

… they where talking about the pacman cache - not something that comes into play here

Again, much appreciation for the help. Quick question, I presume the fact I installed Java 18 instead of 8 wouldn’t be a problem (presuming Java 18 would be backwards compatible)

Java 8
not sure if it is a minimal requirement

My java version is at
Java 18

Ensure that Java 8 is used when starting calengoo.sh

was what they where saying

not sure whether that is minimal version or required …

if this version is required - it’s very old
not sure if you can easily meet that requirement
will try

… it’s a (reasonable) presumption
but who knows?

If they mention Java 8
while current Java version is much different/higher from this
… they are not being on top of their game - for a long time

I’ll try.
It will take some time.
not today

It bears noting, I had reached out to Calengoo tech support on this issue but it can take a good day or two to hear back (and not a quick back and forth as here), so I thought I would try the brain trust here
