Unable to unlock session after resume from suspend

Hi,

I originally installed the Plasma version of Manjaro but have just recently decided to switch to XFCE and installed xfce and xfce-goodies. It generally works fine but one problem I have is, that when my system resumes from suspend to RAM I get to the Unlock screen that shows the Cancel & the Unlock buttons under a field where my password would go, I however do not seem to be able to enter my password in the field, when I click it, I fo not get a cursor and any key I hit on the keyboard, does not go into the password box (it works fine to unlock after my monitors turn off - this just seems to happen when it resumes fro sleep). I tried to login with ssh (as well as locally from another console) and execute: loginctl unlock-session but that ddn’t work.
I actually end up needing to restart my sddm to just be able to login again.
Why does this happen and how can I fix it?

No need to use sddm if you are not on kde. For display manager switch to ligthdm:

sudo pacman -S lightdm lightdm-gtk-greeter lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings
sudo systemctl disable sddm.service
sudo systemctl enable lightdm.service

For screensaver you can switch to xfce4-screensaver:

sudo pacman -S xfce4-screensaver #search for screensaver and enable it

Theoricaly, any login manager works with any DE…

Installing a new screen locker is indeed relevant here, as Xfce does not invoke SDDM by default. If you want it invoked, you need to configure it so:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xfce#Lock_the_screen

I did what ishaanbhimwal suggested above (had xfce4-screensaver installed already),
disabled lock screen in power manager (lock session = Never & unchecked ‘lock screen @ sleep’) and also in the screensaver dialog. However, my system is set to go to sleep after 30min and if it does so, upon wake-up, I still get the dialog that won’t let me enter my password to unlock my screen, i.e. I still need to restart lightdm in order to get back into a session.
What else am I missing? To be able to unlock my session (why doies it even lock to begin with?)

Let’s check the basics.

Thanks maycne.sonahoz,
