Hi, when disabling and enabling wi-fi (I do this because my internet sometimes gets too slow and this helps a lot) my system prevents me from shutting down/reboot the machine. This didn’t happen before the latest updates. When trying to do it through the terminal I get the following message:
GDBus.Error:org.xfce.SessionManager.Error. Failed Session manager must be in idle state when requesting a shutdown.
After a quick search I did:
$ sudo rm -rf ~/.cache/sessions
And that did not help.
My system:

Some suggestion folks? I’m thinking changing my Desktop Environment to LXDE to see if that helps
May be you’re having the same kernel-related issue. Take a look at this threads:
Wifi is not working on my 2012 MacBook Pro after the 2023.12.10 update only on the Kernel 6.6.5-1, The the entire system freeze and nothing works, I had to hard press the power button to reboot.
Note:
Had to switch back to the Kernel 6.5.13-1, then the system is fine on 6.5 and working as usual
System is fine on Kernel version Linux 6.7.0-6-MANJARO too
System: (Details are printed when logged in with Kernel 6.5.13-1 )
Kernel: 6.5.13-1-MANJARO arch: x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 13.2.1 …
Maybe you are right but I have been using the kernel 6.6 without issues for the last week. This happened on the very last 2 updates since yesterday/today. However I’m switching back to kernel 6.1 to check if that resolves my problem.
per your inxi. Kernel: 6.6.1-1
The system does not appear to be updated as 6.6 kernel is as follows:
stable 6.6.5-3
testing 6.6.5-3
unstable 6.6.6-1
Please update and see how it goes.
Yes, the problemas started yesterday. Kernel 6.1 may fail too, 5.15 works fine.
Ok sorry I think I pasted the output of an old thread. Here’s the current one

Does that mean that I should use the new kernel? I’ve been using 5.15 and had no problems when reboot/shutdown so far
Use whatever works for you and is still supported.

linux 515 is marked as supported until Dec, 2026 so you are good for a while longer. Just make sure your system is always up to date.
