Unable to pick the correct refresh rate for my new monitor

My new monitor has a 75hz refresh rate, but I’m unable to set it at anything higher than 60hz. 75hz is what’s listed on the box. In Winblows, the correct refresh rate is able to be set; I booted in just to verify this.

Notes:

-I’m connected via HDMI, not Displayport.

-I’m able to verify that there is nothing wrong with the HDMI cable or my video card. My other 2 monitors (I have 3 in total), are able to function at 75hz simultaneously.

NOTE I know that I will not be able to have all 3 monitors to function at 75hz because I have 2 HDMI ports and 2 Displayports. I will only be able to have my monitors function at 75hz when connected to the HDMI ports.

Operating System: Manjaro Linux

Still can’t select the correct refresh rate. Thought I should post this:

I don’t know why you think you can’t have 75hz on displayport, displayport is generally much higher spec than hdmi so be it resolution or refresh rate, it should be easier to have both higher on displayport than on hdmi usually.

That said, this sounds like it’s probably a hardware problem, HDMI has different versions with different specs/standards, some of those only support up to a certain resolution/refresh rate combination, but often higher resolution at the cost of refresh rate or vice versa if you lower one to raise the other, it’s a bit complicated sometimes I suppose.

You need to figure out the HDMI version of your monitor and the HDMI version of your GPU and make sure your HDMI cable is compatible with that HDMI version (I’m not sure if the cables are different between standards actually, but it can’t hurt to check).

Easiest solution if it’s available would probably just to connect via DP instead of HDMI.

Word of advice tho, you do not want to have mismatched refresh rates between your monitors, you want to run all of them at 75 or all of them at 60, it’s easiest and simplest to do it that way, you’re bound to run into problems if you try to use variable refresh rate, although I heard some wayland compositors support it maybe.

I don’t know why you think you can’t have 75hz on displayport

My friend it’s not that I think I can’t have 75hz on displayport, I know that I can’t. I know my setup, I have 4 screens, I know what refresh rates the screens max out at depending on what port I connect the screens to. Also, this really has nothing to do with display ports are hdmi cables (which have already been tested).

In Windows 10, my new monitor runs at the correct refresh rate of 75hz. In Manjaro, however, my new monitor runs at 60hz.

Anyone have any clues as to what’s happening here?

Thanks!
