Unable to mount home partition

Hi there,

After a force shutdown I’ve stuck at emergency mode with no home partition. When I try to chroot with live usb I got mount: /mnt/home: special device /dev/disk/by-uuid/bfeb6b28-92e7-d601-b060-6a2892e7d601 does not exist. error.

Boot into live ISO, don’t mount any partition and then try to repair the partition nvme0n1p3 by

sudo fsck -p /dev/nvme0n1p3

Reference:
fsck - ArchWiki

First of all, you are using Linux kernel 5.9 which is EOL and unsupported. Downgrade to 5.4 LTS or upgrade to 5.10.

sudo fsck -p /dev/nvme0n1p3  ✔  3h 1m 26s 
[sudo] password for manjaro:
fsck from util-linux 2.36.1
fsck.ext2: Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/nvme0n1p3
/dev/nvme0n1p3:
The superblock could not be read or does not describe a valid ext2/ext3/ext4
filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2/ext3/ext4
filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock
is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:
    e2fsck -b 8193 <device>
 or
    e2fsck -b 32768 <device>

I’ve tried to upgrade 5.10 but computer doesn’t boot into GUI mode. So I restored back with timeshift. I’ll try 5.4 if I resolve partition issue.

Changing kernel will not fix corrupted partition problem. Have you try to do what fsck has suggested in its output?

The issue has resolved after following command.

sudo e2fsck /dev/nvme0n1p3

Now I’m trying kernel downgrade.

Boot live ISO again and determine the location of the backup superblocks by

sudo mke2fs -n

Post output here.

Edit: OK, glad to hear.

Thanks for help.:slightly_smiling_face: I have another issue too, computer doesn’t boot at first try. It frezzes on black screen without showing splash logo or freezes after login to my account with black screen with cursor. This is why I did force shutdown occasionally. Should I create new topic for this? (I’ve successfully downgraded to lts kernel btw.)
