I always use visudo for editing sudo files:
$ EDITOR=micro visudo

Yes, visudo is fine with space apparently. 
But OP has %wheel in sudoers.d already, so he can comment it out. There is also a bit more verbose syntax now (ALL:ALL), which is not used in his sudoers.d, but that, again, shouldn’t change anything.
All you need is plasma-wayland-session and you switch between the two in sddm bottom corner - simple.
Btw, did you go over SDDM troubleshooting? There have to be some env vars, dot files or something on your computer with obsolete settings.
I am unable to find it, so cannot really install it. That I know of anyway. From the chroot environment:
$ pacman -Qs plasma-wayland-session
$

Just went through the troubleshooting again, and I saw this:

~/.Xauthorityand logging in again without rebooting. Rebooting without logging in creates the file again and the problem will persist.
Which I admit sounds like it, but I don’t know if it’ll work removing the file from chroot, considering I can’t use the TTY because I have to login before restarting…
Never mind. Found it. My mistake was using the wrong arguments for pacman. Read up on it a bit more, and changed the arguments:

So I did a reboot, and tried to login with wayland. Which, I first checked, is installed:

The grep -v -i 'home.sh' I added at the end is so that a custom backup script of mine doesn’t flood the output.

Doing some more research and knowing Wayland and Nvidia don’t like each other, I found this:

So I tried adding:
nvidia_drm.modeset=1
to the end of the:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT
…line in /etc/default/grub, so that it now reads:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet udev.log_priority=3 nvidia_drm.modeset=1"
Followed by running:
update-grub
And rebooting.
No difference.
So I’m back in the live environment, with a chroot environment ready to reumble, hoping someone can help me.
There is this SDDM issue from previous 2023-07-10 update but presumably you’d have run into that before now?
No, haven’t come across it before. Maybe I’ll downgrade anyway.
However,
I don’t find any of the files mentioned locally:

And I don’t have anything custom in ~/.bash_profile. (Or at least I don’t think so.)

Next thing I’d try is disabling the display manager completely and see if you can start KDE from the console. Should confirm one way or the other if SDDM is the problem;
$ sudo systemctl get-default

$ sudo systemctl set-default multi-user.target
$ sudo systemctl reboot
After reboot login and run startx.
To re-enable SDDM;
$ sudo systemctl set-default graphical.target
$ sudo systemctl reboot

It happens. No worries.
I can’t see anything, either. that’s why I’m consulting the experts.
The information is also poor. Since startx works, you could take a look at unlocking the debug information.
Wasn’t that possible with the GUI kdebugsettings ? Don’t know if that’s also possible with sddm.
So turn it on and send the journal again with debug information.
That was the output from the previous boot on my PC. (I only have the one, so that’s what there is.)
I got the output from a chroot environment, there’s (sadly) nothing else I know of.
Also, my day is ending, so I’ve got to be off.

Probably this user modification. It starts normally, but right after that it shuts down.
Went back to re-read few things, and this doesn’t make any sense. Create a new user and login with it.
There’s also a bunch of sddm theme errors:
sddm-greeter[692]: file:///usr/share/sddm/themes/Sweet-Ambar-Blue/components/ActionButton.qml:37: TypeError: Cannot read property 'smallSpacing' of null
These themes definitely aren’t part of sddm package.
I might have missed it above, but this was in the Stable Update - 92023-07-10 Known Issue 
Black screen after login with SDDM 0.20
Check ~/.profile for any commands that don’t execute properly (but return non-zero exit code instead). May include ~/.bash_profile and .zprofile too. Downgrading to SDDM 0.19 also restores desktop after login.
The issue has been reported 6 upstream.
It seems you definitely missed it:
I renamed that directory, and tried login in again. Sure enough, the splash screen gets reset to the default one, but that’s all difference it makes.

And anyway, those messages looked like warnings only, not errors. And AFAIK warnings are not usually show-stoppers.
