Maybe edit the boot options to disable plymouth and boot with more verbosity?
Optionally also using something like runlevel 3.
Meaning - hit e, remove ‘quiet’ and ‘splash’ and anything ‘plymouth’, optionally adding a 3
There are some extra plymouth options too that should forcibly disable it if needed.
