Unable to enable the sound on Asus ROG scar 16 2023

Hey! I am new with manjaro linux distro. I am looking for a solution to have normal sound on my computer. I tested almost all the methods(such as alsa, alsamixer, pulse-audio, using preset on easy effects etc) to arch linux on webpage, it still does not work on my computer. The modell is as i mentioned in the title. I really appreciate for the help. If some important information you need is missing just write in the comment and i will answer as soon as possible! Thank you!

Can you post inxi -Fza or lspci | grep Audio ?

How am I possible to reply you with instructions from the terminal or picture here…. I think it’s fastened somewhere in this forum.

Sure!

Here is the problem: the sound server for device 1 is not running.

How can i fix it? Thank you for the response

PulseAudio is shown as active

Replacing PulseAudio with PipeWire will not help if there are problems in ALSA

ROG Tech Specs show some features that may need attention to work correctly in ALSA.

Audio driver snd_hda_intel currently in use does not support digital array microphone. The alternate driver snd_sof_pci_intel_tgl would support the array microphone, but it may not be fully compatible with the audio codec on this system

System may only be using 2 out of 4 speakers and the ‘Smart Amplifiers’ may not be configured correctly for optimal audio level from speakers or headset jack

@KHan36

I suggest you install kernel v6.2, that might have better support for audio codec

sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux62

And get more information to show any issues with ALSA detecting onboard audio

sudo alsa-info.sh --upload

Hi! I have tried to write the command you posted here in the terminal. It still doesn’t work. What should i do now? Will it help if i reinstall everything again? Maybe it doesn’t work depends on something is missing when i googled and fixed something? But i have not changed anything since i posted this question in forum until today.

Thank you for the response! Please read the previous message. The previous message i wrote didn’t show the icon when replying someone. I don’t know what the problem is.

I posted 2 commands.
If you click on the icon at the end of each command it will be copied to clipboard and can be pasted in terminal with Shift + Ctrl + V

If 1st command does not work kernel can also be installed using GUI tool Manjaro Settings Manager > Kernel

If 2nd command does not work please post error message response

Yes. I have followed the commands you posted and pasted in the terminal. I have installed the kernel you mentioned according to the first command. Then i have also pasted the second one in the terminal. It shows following:

[kevin@KevinHan ~]$ sudo alsa-info.sh --upload

After that, i reboot the computer and speakers still don’t work as normal. What i can hear is, when i go to a random video on youtube. I can hear some electronic buzzy sound or i can’t exactly explain how it sounds like, when i using arrow left or right to go forward 5 seconds or back.
It happens same to me when i had Arch linux on it. I am not sure what the real problem is right now.

I’m looking forward your response. Thank you again!

I don’t understand why when i pressed on the reply button on you message, it does not show i reply to your message. Please read the previous message i wrote. Thanks

I have now tried to reinstall whole linux to make sure everything is fresh as beginning and no misstake happen when installing packages without any crash. So when i try to paste the first command you write is showing following:

If kernel 6.1 and 6.2 is not displayed, then pacman -Syyu.
Perhaps the mirrorlist must be updated.

Hi. Even i tried write sudo pacman -Syyu. It shows a lots lines of warning and then

Thank you! It works now to download linux kernel as mentioned in the previous post.
