Unable to connect to the internet

Hello Manjaro Forum,
I've recently installed Manjaro 18.0.4 XFCE on my old Samsung laptop (manufactured in 2008) but when I try to connect to any website other than Google the connection fails. I'm able to ping 8.8.8.8, 127.0.0.1 and localhost. After searching through some previous forums I've found that it might be a problem with my DNS servers, but I have absolutely no idea how to fix this problem as I made the switch to Linux about a month ago!
I'm also unable to use makepkg, curl or wget.
A step by step guide would be really helpful.

Thanks,
Malachy Allen

P.S. If I have to change settings on my router then please know that I have a lot of devices on it that are required to be internet connected as long as they are powered on.

You use W LAN?

You use LAN-cable?

Please post

$ inxi -Fxxxz

after reading the link I posted.

here is some info
https://forum.manjaro.org/search?q=internet

Heya SGS,
I'm using WLAN at the moment as my LAN cable is being used by my PC which doesn't have a network adapter in it. From past experience I can say that the only way I can connect via LAN is to connect to the router directly with a network cable instead of through my WiFi booster (it never worked when connected via LAN through the booster).

Here's the output of running inxi -Fxxxz:

Are you missing the driver/.conf?
I can't help you with that.

Hiya,
After messing around with sudo ip link set wlp2s0 down, sudo modprobe ath5k and sudo ip link set wlp2s0 up I've been able to fix my problem.

Thanks for your help!
Malachy Allen
