Unable to change wallpaper

Hi, after update from Gnome 41 to Gnome 42 unable change desktop wallpaper via Settings menu…the only possible way is from Files with rigth click

Same issue for me. I’ll add that in my case Gnome-Control-Center looks and acts like it will change the wallpaper, but the change doesn’t ever apply.

I hadn’t found your workaround @daniel76 , thanks for sharing! I was rather surprised at how much it bothered me to not be able to choose my wallpaper.

Some system details in case that is helpful:

Host: 20LGS06100 ThinkPad X1 Yoga 3rd
Kernel: 5.17.6-1-MANJARO
DE: GNOME 42.1
WM: Mutter
CPU: Intel i7-8650U (8) @ 4.200GHz
GPU: Intel UHD Graphics 620

gnome-shell --version
GNOME Shell 42.1

gnome-control-center --version
gnome-control-center 41.4

Just remembered that I had installed a patched version of control-center to play with fractional scaling. After installing the vanilla control-center changing the background works as it did before the update to Gnome 42.

After install to vanilla -gnome-control center changing is ok! Thanks…

I had the same wallpaper issue. Like the above I changed the gnome-control-center to v. 42 and it fixed that problem. I have also retained the fractional scaling option.

I also had various inconsistent theming issues – some windows were dark themed while some were light. This change seemed to have solved those issues as well.
