Hello,
I have a problem with my Tuxedo Pulse15 (AMD Laptop), can’t connect to the Internet when i have bluetooth/wifi in Bios disabled, why is that?
I use a normal RJ-45 Lan Cable and when i enable both in Bios again, everything working fine.

Spoiler alert: I created the inxi output while i had wifi/bluetooth enabled… otherwise it would be difficult to load it up on the Forum (without internet connection).
I disabled Wifi/Bluetooth in Bios and loaded in Manjaro and it looked strange, but i could enable Wifi in the OS, so only lan cable connection was disabled? A Bios bug or whats going on?

Probably a bug, I’d check for a ec/bios update first.
There’s also ‘tuxedo-control-centre’ in the official repos, although I’m not sure that helps with your issue unless it’s caused by bios settings interacting with power management settings.

I think i have this Bios already, my Bios is from “Build and Datetime: 05/11/2021”.
There is a newer Bios Update still possible but the only changes was a new option to disable fTPM, bios update was around 2022.
I created also a new inxi, while wifi/bluetooth disabled in Bios:

Still, do the update because bug fixes wouldn’t all be listed at the change log. Be aware that Tuxedo especially mentions the wide ranging security measures of their bios which mentions disabling lan.
firmware level using the UEFI the following functions can be completely deactivated:
iGPU VRAM („Graphics Aperture Size“)
TPM
AMD-V and AMD-Vi (IOMMU)
SMT (Simultaneous Hyper Threading)
SSD slots
WiFi, Bluetooth, microphone / audio, card reader, every single USB port
SSD security / encryption options
LAN boot via USB / LAN adapter or docking station
I don’t want to risk to destroy my Laptop, with Bios Updates… there is always the chance that something can go wrong.
I don’t want to trigger this, specially when its not 100% sure that this Bios Update will fix this issue.
If disabling wifi/bluetooth using the system’s firmware
And this also disables ethernet
Then this is a firmware bug
This has nothing to do with Manjaro and you should contact Tuxedo support.

I also have a Tuxedo, Pulse 15 Gen 2. I have 2 SSDs and after I deactivated the second SSD from BIOS, my WiFi didn’t work anymore … I didn’t investigate further but it seems this is related

That is indeed a firmware bug
@Kobold @gigitek
Log into your tuxedo account and navigate to downloads - check if your firmware has been updated.
Wait a second, i think this both options are on the same Bios Register/Index Page… so maybe i just have to disable second SSD Slot to archive my goal to disable wifi/bluetooth, what a pre Alpha Bios gave Tuxedo to us
I think you maybe need to change a bios option below “SSD Slot2” to really disable SSD2 Slot
Kobold:
My Bios is from “Build and Datetime: 05/11/2021”.
There is a newer Bios Update still possible but the only changes was a new option to disable fTPM, bios update was around 2022.
@gigitek
Can you please look which Bios Date are you using?

Okay i just deactivated NVMe Port #1 & #2 (on my Pulse 15 Gen1) and my Wifi is finally disabled now, thank you.
But related to my Journal errors, bluetooth is still active.

Any idea how to deactivate this device?
BIOS Information
Vendor: American Megatrends International, LLC.
Version: N.1.06A13
Release Date: 06/21/2023
BUT in the above mentioned scenario, when I disabled the second SSD I was using an older BIOS version. I didn’t tried after the update. So this info is not quite helpful.

I saw to late that you have Gen2 and i have a Gen1 Laptop… but its strange how both Bios versions still leads to disabling Wifi on total differend Bios Points.
My assumption is that multiple devices are connected to the same power lane, and the laptop is using a “generic” BIOS which isn’t aware about this…
