Almost two years ago, @elagost shared TTYescape with us:
I completely forgot about it and recently tripped across it again recently. ALARM has not added the packages yet, so I’ve now added ttyescape, buffyboard and hkdm to the Manjaro ARM repos (only available in the unstable branch for now).
Note: As the above thread mentions, this will not work on boot with the bootsplash enabled. If you want to be able to use it on boot, remove the related packages and regenerate your initramfs.
sudo pacman -R bootsplash-theme-manjaro bootsplash-systemd
sudo mkinitcpio -P
The hkdm service is enabled by default. If you want to try it without rebooting, start the service.
To switch to a TTY, hold Volume Down and press Power three times. See the wiki for more info.
