Trouble with starting Apps

Hello,

I’m having trouble launching some apps in Manjaro. If I want to start the app (e.g. Add/Remove Software, Disk, System Monitor, Terminal), the app opens immediately but in the “Dash to Dock” the app only appears after about 30 seconds. They also take longer to appear in the overview of “Switch Application” (Super + Tab) but they are immediately visible in the overview of “Activities” (Super).
I also created a virtual machine with Manjaro to check if the same problems occur there but the problem is not on the VM.
When starting other apps, such as Nautilus or Firefox, I don’t have such problems.

Does anyone else have the same problems as me?

kind regards.

I also tried different kernel versions but it didn’t help.

Welcome to the forum

The lack of response leads me to believe you are experiencing this alone at the time. Could you give some more info and post system information, see link below, and check if you are fully up to date.

Thanks for the nice welcome. :slightly_smiling_face: :+1:
I’m a beginner in the Manjaro/Gnome world so please be patient with me. :relieved:
I hope the following information is sufficient for the start.
Thank you for trying to help me.

The system should be up to date.
It’s German, but it says that everything is up to date.

That is good to know, unsatisfactory tho to have problems mysteriously start and go away.
Reading the system info something strikes me as odd:

I hope someone has some thoughts about this, to me it seems the home drive is not correctly mounted.

Some Swap is essential, you appear to have none.

I have noticed that there were another gnome update (new 43.4) and also a new kernel version: 6.2.8-1, maybe this have solved the problem.
At the moment i am happy that everything is working fine.

I have mounted a samba share to my home directory using cifs. It works fine why are you having the thoughts that it is not correctly mounted. How should be the right output if it where mounted correctly?

I am using a SSD (NVMe PCIe M.2) and i have read that if you are using a SSD, you don’t need Swap necessarily?
Can you confirm it also.

SSD does not mean you dont need SWAP. Maybe some argue you should avoid it to avoid r/w on the SSD … but I wouldnt worry about wearing it out if I were you.
You definitely want SWAP unless you have 16+ GB of RAM, and I might argue you should always have some available, whether its a swapfile or partition or otherwise.

I have 16GB RAM, but i am going to active swap soon.

At my end the output looks like this:

ID-3: /home raw-size: 74.22 GiB size: 74.22 GiB (100.00%)
    used: 27.32 GiB (36.8%) fs: btrfs dev: /dev/nvme0n1p1 maj-min: 259:1

I would assume the home drive would not be /home/<filter>/Share but this might just be something visual and not a cause for concern.
