Touchpad doesn't work

Hi, my touchpad doesn’t work
i almost use my dell laptop 7450 with mouse and now i want to use the touchpad. Touchpad is activated in settings and it seems to “be there” because after some time, the key leds dimm and hitting the touchpad, the leds were on.

Any idea were i could check this?

I have no idea if this will work. I don’t have, or care for, a laptop, so this advice might be useless, but ensure/check that you don’t have both the mouse and the touchpad enabled at the same time.

  • Does the touchpad appear in /proc/bus/input/devices?
  • lsmod | grep -E "i2c|multitouch|hid" might also provide some good clues as to whether the necessary modules are loaded at all.
  • If multitouch isn’t listed there, try running sudo modprobe hid_multitouch.
  • Then run sudo dmesg -T | tail -50 and check to see if anything was loaded.

I would make sure it isn’t disabled by a hardware button Fn+<F-key>

In the system settings “Mouse & Touchpad”. I have a Latitude E7470. Perhaps the device isn’t enabled?

This isn’t any issue. You can use both devices together.

I have enable touch an mouse.
But what i do and now it works:
Update (around 600 Packages) were installed and do a firmware upgrade.
I don’t know exactly why it’s working again, but i didn’t changed a setting, only update…

Thanks to all.

This isn’t shouldn’t be.

But, as we all should know, thing aren’t always as they should be…

Issue was resolved by a system update:
