Today's upgrade KDE Plasma v: 6.1.5 desktop does not wake up

Hi!

Today’s upgrade annoyingly broke my system. Now when desktop after some idle period dims the display, the display stays black but the mouse pointer is visible and functional. I have to log in the other tty to pass reboot to get rid off that black screen.
My work around it to turn off all energy saving features. I hope there will be fix.
Some info about my system:

Please read the Stable Update 2024-10-01 announcement; in particular, the section found here with the following headings:

  • System freeze on suspend
  • KDE Plasma hangs on Shutdown, Restart and Logout

Either of which might be related to your issue.

Cheers.

I have observed something similar. But I found that as a (hopefully temporary) workaround, if I switch to TTY3 (no need to actually log in or anything), and then back to TTY2, the unlock screen then displays normally.

I tried this:

To temporarily revert back to the old behavior, edit systemd-suspend.service, systemd-hibernate.service, systemd-hybrid-sleep.service, and systemd-suspend-then-hibernate.service with the following drop-in:

[Service]
Environment="SYSTEMD_SLEEP_FREEZE_USER_SESSIONS=false"

At first it looked that it helped but later on it appears it did not. So, no help for me. Neither switching from tty2 to tty3 does not make any difference.
The mouse pointer is visible and functional. If I move the pointer to upper left corner, I will see all my desktops as supposed. As soon I choose one, display blackens again.
I guess no easy solution available. So far the only thing I can do is to turn off all energy saving features.

Well, then, all I can offer is :man_shrugging:

kernel? tried others?

Also your system info is missing a lot.

inxi -Farz

Also … your BIOS is old.

Some more tests. Updated BIOS to the newest (077). No help. I also tried different kernels; 6.11, 6.10, 6.6 and no any difference. The more detailed info of my system:
