Thunderbird compacted folder issue

I have the same problem:

I can´t compress one of my email accounts permantly.
All other work fine.
Filesystem is ext4.

Please see the links @scotty65 has already given.

Link #1: delete the trash and trash.msf.
No success.

What I observed: compacting all folder under the top email account works.

I do notice this warning when using Thunderbird (daily branch) but whether it has any bearing on your issue, I can’t say:

I have personally never experienced any file corruption as described. It might be best to ask for help directly from Thunderbird:

I have three computers: on two computers, the compacting fails on the specific acoount, the laptop works.
