sddm is ok in this iso
A post was split to a new topic: The NVIDIA driver downgrade made everything flicker again
- No volume change overlay (but audio feedback works)
- Panel increasingly buggy - renders badly and frequent issues with Task Manager display (disappearing, or incorrect icon sizing).
- Frequent problems moving/resizing windows, needs refresh™
refresh™
#!/bin/bash
plasmashell --replace
sleep 1
kwin_x11 --replace & disown
Panel fixed by:
- Changing location to the side
- Creating replacement at the bottom
- Removing side panel.
Also, now re-running update to downgrade Plasma-workspace
To downgrade (1):
plasma-workspace 6.0.5.1-2.2 (6.1.2-1.0) extra 21.3 MB
Testing branch is for testing out stuff. With 555 series Nvidia forces you to use their GSP firmware by default. Some have issues with that and need to pass nvidia.NVreg_EnableGpuFirmware=0 to disable that. The focus is more on GNOME side of things than KDE Plasma. However Nvidia is now also patching stuff for KDE software. If you have issues with 555 driver series you use that support thread by Nvidia to give them feedback: 555 release feedback & discussion - Linux - NVIDIA Developer Forums. A proper solution might however take a while. 555 is a feature release on which Nvidia experiments on. 550 is their current production release of their drivers.
When updating I ran into a conflict with paprefs & pipewire-pulse
Since I use pipewire (and not sure why paprefs was still around) I removed paprefs witch solved the conflict & I could update.
The erroneous conflict is corrected with paprefs 1.2-3. I’ll forward it along to testing and stable shortly.
