Making changes in /usr/lib/ is pointless as the next update will overwrite it. I’ve updated the tutorial recently:

To force-enable Wayland, disable the udev rule responsible for disabling Wayland in GDM:

sudo ln -s /dev/null /etc/udev/rules.d/61-gdm.rules
