Switched from Stable to Testing without issues (disabled all extentions before the switch. After the switch was done, I turned on the extensions again) All extentions work as expected:

  1. gnome-shell-extension-appindicator
  2. Dash to Panel
  3. Pamac Update Indicator
  4. User Themes
  5. Tilling Assistant

welcome to the testing branch, not so bad as they say, is it! you’ll soon see why ppl experience less issues than they do in the stable branch. you get granular “relatively” frequent updates reasonably tested in the “unstable” branch. it is usually those mammoth updates that ruins the stable branch.

A small observation testing only has GNOME-Shell 1: 40.2-1. All other Branches have GNOME-Shell 1: 40.3-1. Otherwise thanks for your hard work and deduction.

Hello!

The kio upgrade from 5.82.0-1 to 5.84.0-1 (and kio-extras from 21.04.1-2 to 21.04.3-1) broke my Plasmashell/Desktop.

After rebooting i was shown a black screen with only the Cursor visible.

I was able to fix it by changing to TTY (Ctrl + Alt + F2) and downgrading it manually.

After another reboot it worked just fine again.

It was quite a hassle to find out what was causing the problem :slight_smile:

Except for the blur on xwayland windows when scaling is on and screen sharing not working in Firefox, everything is very smooth so far. I don’t game or do any intensive graphics stuff as a web developer so I can’t speak about those things.

So far so good though with my nvidia + wayland + gnome setup👌🏻

AMDGPU driver here. No such problem with the newest xorg-server.

This update is working great with x11 and nvidia in KDE. With new xwayland however, mpv player still can’t use gpu renderer and KDE menu is also showing some glitch. Blender cycles is fast though and I haven’t tested any games on it yet. Well, it’s a good start. :smiley:

in wayland, libreoffice scales inverse witch plasma wayland. For example with 1, all is " well", but if you put 120 of scale, libreoffice is more little than before, so I think it has to be a bug.

If you put GTK 3 SAL libreoffice make the scale well

Interesting: The “Kernel” applet in Manjaro Settings also offers a 5.14 kernel marked as “Experimental”.
Indeed, it is already possible to install this kernel on Manjaro Testing. The kernel, despite its “Experimental” state, is capable to start and run.

$ uname -r
5.14.0-1-MANJARO

So far, I did not observe any issues here, and I was even able to get the legacy Nvidia driver 390 to run on kernel 5.14.

For a quick fix, to get the latest packages, I switched shortly to stable branch and than reverted back to test branch (because updates are more incremental).
