[Testing Update] 2020-10-16 - Kernels, KDE-git, Mesa, Python, Haskell

Ok thanks @philm for your answer and clarification. :+1::v:
So I leave my Bluetooth disabled unit next kernel releases.

This update breaks both touchpad and touch interface Everything works fine after booting up, but following sleep/suspend both the touchpad and touch screen no longer work. Experiencing this on a Dell XPS 13 9380.

This problem happens for both 5.8.15 and 5.9.0 kernels, but not for 5.4.71.

Could this be related to the hid i2c interface problems we had going to 5.8.13 on the 2020-10-01 testing update?

@janisx and @thunderbird are you seeing similar problems this time too?

@SweetestRug the problem is being discussed here: I2C touchpad does not function after resuming from suspend

Thank you @pobrn. With the patched removed, kernel 5.8.15-2 no longer has this problem.

All good XFCE + BTRFS + linux58
The new grub Theme looks very nice :sunglasses:

This update still is missing the shutdown options in Plasma 5.20 (looks like if you are using latte-dock)

The Update went well, but Kernel 5.9 broke underclocking abilities with amd gpu’s.
sending new values to /sys/class/drm/card0/device/pp_od_clk_voltage is not possible, while it worked on 5.8 and is still working on 5.4.
I’ve already activated amdgpu.ppfeaturemask=0xffffffff, so this shouldn’t be the problem.

Could also be an upstream problem, atleast it’s not completely unknown.

[-] When I plug my Headphones in or pull them out, KDE shows me that there isn’t any sound-device, forcing me to reset the audio settings (in my case pulling the headphones out and setting the profile for my integrated soundcard to 5.1-surround)
Side note: Grub theme got overwritten with the new default theme (Why did it get overwritten in the first place?)

Apparmor fails to load profiles after the update (Linux58, XFCE)

Possibly firejail related again? Firejail didn’t get an update…

Someone has the new OSD on Plasma (like when changing volume and brightnes)? I don’t have them yet

Me either. I thought I had broken something. Glad to hear I’m not alone. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Tested on 5.8.15 with manual hibernate and sleep, touchpad works without problems.

Yes, very nice indeed.
Next -->localization of the grub theme (maybe on christmas?!)

Just updated. Everything great here. No more i915 crashes, it seems.

A friend asks me to install the latest KDE 5.20 on her machine running another Arch related distro. The ‘Leave’ tab was there but it did not work. So I did a hard shutdown by pressing the on/off button. She agreed to that. The next morning, the system would hang and not complete the ‘Start’ sequence. I had to do a new install of her system. I am a big fan of KDE but there are a few problems with it.

Edit: this happened on the 10/14 release

I’m missing nvidia390xx-module for linux59…

You should never do a hard shutdown because you can damage files being written at the moment, that was maybe the case with that computer not completing the start sequence, either you do the poweroff command (I’m doing this as a workaround for now) or do a REISUB in case if the PC is frozen.

Hmm, there was a pulseaudio update today - thank you!

Now my Asus Xonar works again, but had to set the sound levels to 100% in alsamixer.

Btw, this is still not working:

$ pulseaudio-ctl full-status
