Taskbar is detached from the bottom when no window is maximized

Following a recent update to my system, I noticed that the taskbar that I placed at the bottom is no longer flush with the monitor border and even shows rounded corners when none of the current desktop windows are maximized.

Here is an example of what it’s like with a maximized window:

And here is what it looks like on an empty desktop:

The same effect is also seen with the launcher menu that I get by clicking on the leftmost button:

I tried looking in the task manager options but I could not see anything obvious here.
The system has been rebooted after the update, just to be sure.

Has anyone noticed this?
Do you have any suggestion as to how I could change this?

Right click on the panel, set to edit mode, and change the floating setting.

This is as expected in Plasma 6 - it’s called a floating panel. If you want the previous style, right-click and enter edit mode: there is a floating toggle - flick it to the other position and Bob’s your Auntie.

Cheers.

Thanks, that’s exactly it.
A bit weird that an appearance option is not in the appearance properties, but at least there was a solution.
