Systemd log spam after firmware update

Recently updated firmware on T14 ThinkPad Gen 6 (Intel / Lunar Lake) and am periodically experiencing huge spikes in RAM/CPU due to journald-systemd. Monitoring journalctl -f during the spasm seems to reveal a bunch of errors related to wifi and bluetooth. e.g.

kernel: iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: Error sending SYSTEM_STATISTICS_CMD: time out after 2000ms.

Around the same time (~1 week ago) I also installed sof-firmware and switched from pulseaudio to pipewire.

Currently on kernel 6.18 where my bluetooth and audio works as opposed to 6.12 where it doesn’t. I’m guessing it is simply that the kernel hasn’t caught up to the firmware yet. Until that time, would there be any workaround to stop this behavior ?

Mod edit: Corrected code formatting.

Hi @_dunce, could you provide the full output of inxi -zv8 rather than that truncated part? This might provide some useful information. No audio expert myself, but it often reveals something.

I think older kernel versions would receive only bug fixes. Since Lunar Lake is still relatively new i would rather try the latest kernel release which would be 6.19.*.

Seems to be related to your Intel BE201 wifi card. There are a few other similar reports floating around. Being a relatively new card (First supported kernel is 6.18 - https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/824804/intel-wireless-wi-fi-drivers-for-linux.html) there may be some bugs?! I’d be inclined to report it to Intel.
