journalctl last boot ( too lang for forum:

Manjaro-helper-log

Same error message if i try to start|restart a *.service

Whats happening here?

Of course, these are wrong names, just:

systemctl status pamac-cleancache.service
systemctl status cpupower.service

My shame, you are right!

Did i ever use this WITH pathname in the past … i don’t know!

There is a series of articles at:

One way to start finding info is to type systemctl list-TABTAB and you should see something like:

list-dependencies   list-jobs   list-machines   list-sockets   list-timers   list-unit-files   list-units

Note: the output of a systemd command might be directed to a pager, probably less and just in case:

  • to exit: q
  • arrows work to move up/down
  • to find a pattern forward use /your_pattern; backwards: ?your_pattern
  • to find next forward: n; backwards: N
  • goto the bottm: G; goto the top g
  • See help at: man less

The systemd man pages of course can be viewed locally (i.e., man systemd.index), but here they are online at freedesktop.org/software/systemd. There’s a lot, use what you need, as you need it. As they say, “inch by inch anything is a cinch”

Thanks for these tipps!

I still have to learn very much about systemd … as needed … and as systemd works without issues for me that will take a while

First step to remember: systemctl list- TABTAB

If you see the term command completion that is what they are referring to. It is done by the package readline and bash.

If you can’t sleep some night, the bash man pages are also online in html format. However, the best resource I’ve seen for getting started with bash (it’ll help understand the man page too) is “The Linux Command Line”. The creator has a “learning the shell” and “writing shell scripts”. They even mention completion (scroll down to the subtitle).
