EDIT: Not even calling suspend works. The screen locks and become unresponsive but no sleep.

Have you considered to remove one or both of these parameters (which you have added for some reason)?

… what does happen when you issue:
systemctl suspend
?

this is a claim, not a statement backed by fact …

No. I had to make these adjustments a while ago cause of the battery drainage and to be able to change the backlight. The system worked just fine before all that.

It seems like everything works just fine. I dont know what was the problem yesterday and the day before yesterday, but it seems like it is resolved.

You are right:

#NAutoVTs=6
#ReserveVT=6
#KillUserProcesses=no
#KillOnlyUsers=
#KillExcludeUsers=root
#InhibitDelayMaxSec=5
#UserStopDelaySec=10
#HandlePowerKey=poweroff
#HandleSuspendKey=suspend
#HandleHibernateKey=hibernate
HandleLidSwitch=suspend
#HandleLidSwitchExternalPower=suspend
#HandleLidSwitchDocked=ignore
#

Uncommenting this is not needed unless you change the action, but “suspend” is the default action and uncommenting the line does not do anything.

You run i3 and I don’t know how it is set up to handle such events.
Other Desktop Environments inhibit these and use their own way to configure them.
I have no idea how Manjaro i3 may do this.

All I can do is refer you to the Arch wiki in the hope that it’ll help you - but you likely already know this:

Power management - ArchWiki

Someone else will surely know more than I do - this is the extent of my knowledge.
