System (versatilely) bricked - after recovery of failed system update

Unfortunately a new timeshift backup was created after I could boot into the system via the other kernel last time - after the failed update where the system was somehow corrupted already. Because I backup /home with timeshift I always only keep the newest backup. So there is an entry for today in the timeshift directory but unfortunately timeshift does not list it. Maybe the backup did not finish or something. I will backup data I need manually now as soon as i have an external drive at hand since its still possible to mount the partitions. After ill try fsck or whatever else will be proposed to me here.

Some suggestions for the future

• Use Btrfs as file system. It is rock solid. (Nearly unbreakable in the event of power outages or system crashes)

• Use Snapper to create snapshots
  It is more configurable than Timeshift. You can create multiple profiles for different subvolumes (/ /home /var/log …). So you can adjust it to your needs.
  You can rollback each profile individually. Together with Btrfs I have over 100 snapshots of my system and no space problems.

• You even can combine Snapshots with extern backups (backsnap)
