System settings and Leave options will not work

I am on my 4th nuke and pave with this install and I cannot narrow down what is causing this issue. After I reinstall from the live image I start setting up firefox downloading and installing applications etc. Then after some time ( this is where I haven’t been able to pin down what may be the cause, not certain if it is one of the apps being installed or updated or what) I can no longer open system settings, and once that happens the only option on the “leave” panel that works is suspend, hibernate and lock screen. clicking on System settings will bounce a few times, pop the icon on the panel and then crash out. the only change I have made within system settings is turn num lock on at plasma start. Once all this happens if I reboot or do a hard reboot I get a blank screen with a blinking cursor and can only access tty2.

Its possible you have the kde-dev/git bug.
You will know if you have a bunch of -git plasma packages.
If so see the bottom of this post …

Giving it a go, although when I ran the script I received error: target not found: on all 28 packages. :man_shrugging: we will see what the reboot brings!

So no joy, back to blank screen with a cursor. It is reading do_IRQ: 10.55 No irq handler for vector But I have read elsewhere that that is due to the bios firmware on the motherboard and doesn’t impede the boot process.

I think you might want kernel 5.10 … possibly also linux-firmware-git

Updated the kernel 5.10.0-1-Manjaro, installed and built the firmware pkg, still booting to black screen. If I startplasma-x11 I get $DISPLAY is not set or cannot connect to the X server

Running Xorg or xinit Errors out with Server terminated with error (1)
In Xorg.0.log I see a few font directory warnings, a Open ACPI failed (/var/run/avoid.socket) (No such file or directory)
Error parse_vt_settings: Cannot open /dev/tty0 (Permission denied)
xf86CloseConsole: KDESETMODE failed: Bad file descriptor
xf86CloseConsole: VT__GETMODE failed: Bad file descriptor

hopefully something in here gets us closer to solving this.

Also another thing I found interesting is although in my inxi above it shows kernel 5.9 prior to installing 5.10 the only kernel that showed up was 5.4. Same with the kernel selection in my grub menu it only has an option for 5.4 and 5.10
