System printing dialog freezes

Hi there,

since

$ pacman -Q cups
cups 2:2.4.15-1

printing using the system dialog is no longer possible - the windows freezes and when closing the corresponding app terminates.

LibreOffice printing is not affected.

Any hints please?

System info may help: inxi -zv8.

Your cups version suggests you are on Unstable branch:

You can roll back, if you wish, e.g.:

sudo pacman-mirrors --api --set-branch stable
sudo pacman-mirrors --fasttrack 5 && sudo pacman -Syyuu

Okay, this is good news in case of major failure.

What if I’d choose to contribute to bug hunting?

You might start with switching to the Testing branch – If you’re now in Stable branch, substitute stable for testing in the previous example given, and use sudo pacman -Syyu to upgrade after switching.

Okay, I’ve done this - and printing is fine with this version.

Okay, the latest version from today works fine now: cups 2:2.4.15-2

Then, let’s mark the appropriate post as the solution, shall we?

That’s fine for me - thx for your support.

It’s expected that the post that provided the solution, or helped you the most to solve a problem, is marked as such (using the solution button beneath the respective post).

This allows others who might have a similar issue to quickly find the marked solution and evaluate whether ot not it applies to them.

Good to know you’re now printing without issue.

Regards.
